y grand father was a man of long-gone times: born in 1908... a restless worker". This is how Giuseppe Gattullo, aged 33, speaks about the man whose name he is carrying. "He arrived in Milan very young, leaving Ruvo di Puglia. After apprenticeship and with enormous sacrifices, he managed to open what at the time was just a tiny cake shop. It was 1961.
Real success came in the seventies: the cake shop was the preferred meeting point for Italian artists like Renato Pozzetto, Enzo Jannacci, Diego Abatantuono, Jerry Scotti, Massimo Boldi, Gianna Nannini. The place got bigger, following the same trend as its reputation among Milanese gourmets!
My grand father's cake shop marked an era and both my father and me took the challenge of continuing and - possibly - improving what my grand father created. Year after year our production has changed, adapting to the times: we like to define our activity as a 'research cake shop', following the ever changing trends of an ever changing city."
